The much awaited play by Little Thespian’s on Rahul Varma’s ‘Dhoka’ based on backdrop of Iraq war will be staged at Gyan Manch on Tuesday.
The play ‘Dhoka’ is the translation of the English play ‘Truth and Treason’. Canada Council for the Arts had assigned Uma Jhunjhunwala to translate the play to Hindi.
It may be mentioned that the play with an “intense private drama of grief, revenge and forgiveness unfolds, and as the turmoil tightens around each of them” would make an audience ask the question on necessity of war.
The music of the play has been designed by Murari Ray Chowdhury and SM Azhar Alam is the man behind the light design, set and direction.
According to the director, “The world is an open field of battle dominated by ego, power and money…each one of us should draw a line when it goes overboard. The play highlights the inner conflicts which is the result of desire for supremacy and hatred towards others. This is what attracted me to direct this play.”
