Guv rejects names for search committee for appointment of V-C
The state Governor KN Tripathi on Wednesday returned the file containing names of the members of the search committee set up to find out a permanent Vice-Chancellor of Bidhanchandra Agricultural University at Mohonpur in Nadia and North Bengal Agricultural University.
A search committee under the chairmanship of Monoranjan Kar, Vice Chancellor of Odisha Agricultural University was set up to find out a permanent Vice Chancellor of Bidhanchandra Agricultural University.
The former Vice Chancellor of Raipur Agricultural University and CR Hazra, Central Agricultural Commissioner, were members of the committee.
The committee met in Bhubaneshwar in November last year.
The file was returned as the name of a search committee member appeared in both the committees. The tenure of the Vice Chancellor of Bidhanchandra Agricultural University will end on May 21.
There were several allegations against the authorities of Bidhanchandra Agricultural University. A university employee was arrested on charges of embezzlement of fund and the police have filed charge sheet.
To make the administration free from corruption, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had asked the Education minister Partha Chatterjee to set up a search committee to select a permanent Vice Chancellor.
