Gurgaon to get new university, bus stand

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday announced to open a university in Kakrola village of Gurgaon district. He also announced a number of other projects, costing several crores of rupees, in the city. These include a new bus stand and workshop on 83 acres and a Justice Tower, which will be  built over 7.5 acres at a cost of Rs 75 crore.

The Chief Minister made these announcements while addressing a ‘vikas rally’ in the Badshahpur Assembly segment at Kakrola-Bhangrola village. Khattar said Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister Rao Narbir Singh demanded constituting a Gurgaon Development Authority, but the matter was pending in court. He said the government would bring in a new Bill to remove the hindrances and decision in this regard would be taken soon.

He said a girls’ college would be built in Manesar, a hospital in Sector 67, sports stadiums in Bhangrola and Khatola village, flyover at Umang Bhardwaj Chowk, multi-level parking lots in Gurgaon, cultural centres in Sectors 4 and 53 and a community centre in Wazirabad village. Besides, Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon, Excise and Taxation Department will get new office buildings and railway station in the  city will be given a facelift.

The CM also announced to allot Rs 45 crore for development works in all Assembly constituencies in Gurgaon. These include Rs 15 crore for Badshahpur and Rs 10 crore each for Gurgaon, Pataudi and Sohna constituencies. He said the annual state budget was increased from Rs 69,000 crore to Rs 88,000 crore, which would mean an extra Rs 200 crore than 2015 for each Assembly constituency. Reiterating his commitment of ‘zero tolerance towards corruption’, he said corruption was “rampant during the previous governments and exorbitant estimates were passed. Now those things are gone.”

Rao Narbir Singh, who was also present, said Rs 980 crore has been approved for making three intersections on NH-8 in Gurgaon signal-free.
