Gurgaon shames again

Even before the Dana Sangma case has been solved, two more northeastern women were molested in two separate incidents in the NCR. Wednesday witnessed the strong protest against racial discrimination at the Amity University gates but in Millennium City, Gurgaon, the incidents that took place on Tuesday were a slap on the protests.

The two victims – both hailing from Manipur, were molested on Wednesday. One of the women was groped by an unidentified man in a crowded place near DLF Phase I and the other was molested by her neighbour.

25-year-old Tracy was waiting for her husband in a Sikanderpur market in DLF Phase I, where she was groped by an unidentified man. Her husband had gone in to the market to buy some things when the incident happened. The accused escaped when Tracy raised an alarm. The couple filed an FIR at the DLF Phase I police station but no arrests have been made as yet.

‘The couple came to the police station with a complaint of molestation. An FIR under sections 354 of IPC (outraging the modesty of a woman ) was lodged against unknown person. We are looking into the matter,’ said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP (East), Gurgaon.

In the other incident, a 23-year-old woman was molested by her neighbour. She lived with two of her cousins in a rented accommodation and worked as a sales executive in a shopping mall. By the time the police arrived the molester had fled the spot.

The police however added to the victims’ woes. Allegedly, the police harassed her by asking her questions about why she was staying with two boys. The victim told the police that the two boys staying with her were her cousins. The police detained the two boys. No FIR was filed in this case.
