Gurgaon police officer suspended for inaction

A police official of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) rank was suspended on charges of inaction with regard to an incident in Gurgaon regarding a brawl reported on Tuesday evening.

Harish Kumar, posted at Sector 29 police station was suspended for not registering the complaint of Dharamveer, a resident of Shikohpur village in Kherki Daula, who is a tempo driver.

On Tuesday evening, he went to the police station with a complain that he was allegedly beaten up by some unidentified assailants under the jurisdiction of the concerned police station.

ASI Harish Kumar allegedly did not act upon the complaint lodged by Dharamveer. The victim later, with the help of some locals from his village, reported the matter to the Gurgaon police commissioner, Navdeep Singh Virk.

‘The official was immediately suspended by the commissioner after Dharamveer’s complaint at the commissioner’s office on Wednesday evening. A departmental inquiry has also been ordered against the accused officer in this regard,’ said the official spokesperson of Gurgaon Police.

Newly appointed commissioner, NS Virk, recently said that he shall not tolerate any corruption and the force under his charge will have to take immediate action against all complaints.

In June 2014, two police officers were suspended for wrongful confinement of two people and allegedly extorting Rs 45,000 from them.
