Group of five assault 2, gang-rape their female friends; four arrested

Senior police officers of the Outer district said that they have apprehended four of the five accused. They are verifying the documents of the accused to establish the age of the accused and to ascertain whether they are juveniles or not. Meanwhile, search operations have been initiated to nab the absconding youth at the earliest.

According to a senior police official, the incident took place at around 6 pm at an open agricultural field near the Mundka Metro station which falls under the Aman Vihar police station where the two girls, accompanied by their male friends, had gone for a walk. Since it got dark, they all sat down and started chatting.

Investigators shared that the place where the incident took place was an isolated stretch, not frequented by people. “Five youth passing by the open field saw the girls. Since it was getting dark, the group of youth allegedly thought of taking advantage of the girls. The group approached the girls. 

When their male friends raised objection and told them to leave, they allegedly got into a heated argument and started beating the two male friends. When the two male friends lost consciousness, the group of youth allegedly took the two girls to a nearby isolated spot and took turns to sexually assault them.”

Sources said that after raping the girls, the group threatened them of dire consequences if they told anyone about the incident.

Investigators further said that after sexually assaulting them, the youth fled from the spot. Sometime later, the two girls regained consciousness and with their male friends, they all went to the nearby police station.

Police said that based on the statement of the two girls and after the medical examination, a case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC at the Aman Vihar police station against unknown persons.

Sources said that the girls helped the police and based on their description, sketches of the accused youth were made. Based on the sketches, coupled with local intelligence, the four youth were apprehended. Further investigation is underway.
