Govt to supply power to all houses across country by 2019: Goyal

The Centre has set a target to supply power to all houses across the country by 2019 and  to all villages by March 21, 2017. This was stated by Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Power and Coal Piyush Goyal. 

Goyal was speaking at the sectoral session ‘Emerging models of PPP: Powering the Growth of Haryana’ on the second day of the ‘Happening Haryana Global Investors’ Summit-2016’ being organised in Gurgaon.

The Minister said that Haryana was the first State to supply power to 100 per cent of its villages. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had recently said during his talk show Mann Ki Baat that efforts would be made to reduce losses in the power sector through collective responsibility under the public-private partnership mode. He expressed appreciation for the schemes being implemented by Haryana Government, including ‘New Integrated Licensing Policy-2016’, ‘Deen Dayal Jan Awas Yojana’ and ‘Transit Oriented Development’ policy.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal  invited entrepreneurs to invest in the service sector. He assured that the state government would extend all possible support to the investors and would also appoint relationship managers to facilitate them.

Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain, and Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister Rao Narbir Singh were also present on this occasion.
