Govt to launch host of new projects in New Town

She will also inaugurate a deer park named as Harinalaya by her, a toy train at Eco Park and a statue of Sri Ma Sarada, Debashis Sen, chairman of Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) said on Monday.

The pedestrian subway will have an escalator and will connect the two important tourist destinations, namely, Eco Park and Mother’s Wax Museum.

Eco Park in the past one year has become the most important tourist destination and since its inception nearly 48 lakh people have visited the spot.

The Mothers Wax museum is becoming increasingly popular among both domestic and foreign tourists and in between is the Biswas Bangla Sarani , the most smooth thoroughfare where the average speed of cars is anything between 80km to 100 km per hour.

The state of the art subway will also have a few kiosks where newspapers and magazines will be kept while in the others artificial jewellery and other items will be sold. The colour used to paint the walls of the sub way will be both soothing and attractive to the users.

The Chief Minister will inaugurate the replica of the Ghoom station and the toy train at Eco Park.
The toy train will have hop on and hop off facility for the revellers. It will take 40 minutes for them to complete the entire track. Unlike other trains which are found in some of the amusement parks, it is a replica of the toy train of Darjeeling.

The century old heritage train has been a centre of attraction for tourists, both domestic and foreign. The Ghoom station is also a centre of attraction for them. The toy train will increase the importance of the Eco Park.

The deer park named will be opened soon. New Town will be declared as a smart city in April. HIDCO has opened parks for children, elderly people and also for pets.

Another park will be dedicated for physically and mentally challenged children. The area is fast coming up as a centre for educational activities where important institutions will have their second campus. The economic and healthcare hubs are also coming up in the area.
