Govt to hold week-long sports extravaganza

Delhi may soon have week-long sporting extravaganzas at the constituency level with Delhi government launching a pilot project in this regard at Patparganj in a bid to foster inclusive values among children. The ‘Assembly Games’ project, billed as a first-of-its-kind, will be held in Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s Patparganj constituency from September 7-14 and is likely to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Various sports like <g data-gr-id="12">kho kho</g>, <g data-gr-id="7">kabbadi</g>, volley ball, basket ball, football, badminton, table tennis, chess, boxing, tug-of-war, boxing and athletics would be part of the event, to be held at the Sports Complex at East Vinod Nagar. “The government is organising games to bring children of every class and segment on the same platform and to give them a healthy environment where they
can inculcate the values of inclusiveness,” Surinder Singh, an aide of Sisodia, said.
