Govt proposes Eco tourism spot in Nadia

The state government has proposed to set up an Eco tourism spot in the district of Nadia. A team of officials led by the District Magistrate will visit the site on Saturday. The spot called Mangaldwip is situated off Chakdah under Ranaghat block.

The state government is giving special emphasis on Eco tourism. Infrastructure will be constructed along with accommodation for  the tourists. A senior official of Tourism department said there were many places in the state which had not been explored.

The places are situated close to Kolkata and are well connected by rail and road. People can go to the spots, spend a day or two and  enjoy the environment. People can enjoy sunrise and sunset there.

It was learnt that there will be cottages and a good restaurant. The state government is also
considering a proposal to introduce boating facility in the area. The visitors can spend  the day taking a stroll on the island and its adjoining areas, indulge in boating and enjoy several other activities in the  village environment.

As long holidays have been replaced by short trips as the lifestyle of people has changed in the past few years, such spots have become immensely popular. The state government is planning to open some Eco tourism spots in North Bengal.

Nadia district administration is now preparing a blueprint to carry out development in the area.
The financial involvement is being calculated. The official said once the spot was developed it would
generate employment to local youth.

The local youth can open stalls and shops. As the area is well connected, officials hoped that the spot would become popular.
