Govt never learned from past disasters: BJP

Former CM and presently Rajya Sabha MP Bhagat Singh Koshiyari told Millennium Post that natural disasters are recurring phenomenon in our state. It is the responsibility and duty of the state machinery and district administration to make pre-disaster preparations to tackle any natural calamity. This government never learned any lesson from the past year natural calamity that struck in Uttarakashi, Ukimath and Katpot.

He further said that since this government assumed power, natural calamities are on rise. The panicked and helpless villagers are left at the mercy of patwaris. In Pindar valley, roads are broken, and villagers are still waiting for essential commodities. The condition is the same of many villages in the Chamoli and Rudrapyag districts.  He added that he had cautioned the government to think seriously on the construction of safety walls on the banks of rivers in the hill state.
