Govt focuses on madrasa modernisation

Presenting his maiden budget on Thursday, finance minister Aruin Jaitley focused also on modernisation of madarsas. Finance minister Arun Jaitley’s budget speechdtarted a buzz about a series of ‘100-crore schemes’ announced by the new government. For at least a dozen projects and schemes, Jaitley said he was setting aside Rs 100 crore. In this 100 crore club falls modernisation of madarsas.
He said, ‘An additional amount of Rs 100 crore has been provided for this. The madarsa modernisation would enable 10 lakh Muslim children to get education of national standards which is certified through the National Institute of Open Schooling. This would enable Muslim students to progress to higher education or vocational education depending on their choice.’
