Govt constitutes trade board

In a bid to woo the business community ahead of the assembly elections, the Delhi government on Wednesday set up a 37-member Delhi Trade Board to address the issues of traders in the capital, a government official said.

Chief minister Sheila Dikshit has been in favour of a continuous dialogue between the government and trade and commerce representatives in order to strengthen the relationship between the two to enhance the government’s revenue collection.

The board will have 10 government officials and 27 representatives of various trade organisations as members. Through the new board, traders will be able to apprise the government of their problems and suggest measures for increasing tax collection in the capital.
