Govindacharya wants neither Rahul nor Modi

In what could be construed to be a politically pregnant statement, prominent right-wing ideologue Govindacharya has said that former deputy prime minister Lal Krishna Advani could still be BJP’s prime ministerial candidate. The former BJP general secretary said, ‘I feel both Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi are not fit to be the prime minister. Modi is fit to be the Home Minister.’ When reporters insisted on knowing who he wants as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate in the 2014 polls, Govindacharya said, ‘LK Advani could still be the BJP’s prime ministerial nominee.’ Govindacharya was political secretary to Advani when the latter was party president during the heydays of Ramjanambhoomi movement.

When asked if not Rahul Gandhi, who could be the prime minister from the Congress, Govindacharya said, ‘In my view, defence minister AK Antony and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh have potential to become Prime Minister.’
