Government won't complete its term: BJP

As Prime Minister Manmohan Singh hosted the dinner to mark three years of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, the opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday claimed that government may fall anytime as coalition partners were unhappy and were not even ready to break bread together.

'This government can fall anytime. The government claims to have a total majority of 272, but the actual figure seems 227 as even its allies are not happy with it,' said BJP spokesperson.

The BJP leader also took a dig at the government as the UPA ally Trinamool Congress (TMC), did not attend the dinner hosted by Prime Minister. 'Its allies are not happy with it, a leader of the ally party does not even want to eat food together. You can imagine the state of affairs. I wonder what would be the flavour of the dinner hosted to celebrate the three years of completion of government,' said BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain. He added that the three years of UPA regime would be written in black letters.

The UPA has had a tough second innings, with the government struggling with slow growth, high prices, and depreciating value of rupee. Allies like TMC have also not helped government's cause with key economic decisions being stalled because of pressure from allies.
