“Got uncomfortable with all the attention”

Actor Andrew Garfield felt incredibly uncomfortable with the attention that came with The Amazing Spider-Man and says he still feels insecure. The 32-year-old Social Network star said he started from a humble <g data-gr-id="22">background</g> but things changed after starring in the 2012 blockbuster, reported Female First.

“I started out at drama school, struggled, worked a bunch of odd jobs, waited on tables... Starving in the best way.

“The work was this alchemical gold thing that I was searching for and longing for. And then, something shifted with Spider-Man.

“It was a character that I wanted to play my whole life and not one part of me was indifferent... But I got incredibly uncomfortable with the attention that just came with that job. It was nothing to do with me, it was to do with this idea of celebrity,” he said.Despite his success, Garfield still feels insecure and is trying to figure out who he is.

“It’s like, ‘Oh, my life is now great!’ But in fact, I’m still in my own ways, insecure, and scared, and don’t really know who I am. Celebrity is the new religion, as far as I can see, along with money, power, status. It’s all the same umbrella -- the seductive forces of evil....

“I struggle with this question every day. Who am I? Do I have anything to say?”
