Goods train derails in Malda

Train services in North Bengal were affected after a goods train derailed between Adina and Old Malda station on Monday night. The incident occurred when some bogies of a Kolkata-bound goods train derailed and damaged the Up line as well as leading to the disruption of services both ways. No casualty has been reported in this regard so far. As a result of this, various trains including Down Teesta Torsa Express, Soraighat Express, and Darjeeling mail were halted at different stations. Many Up trains also got delayed causing serious inconveniences to the passengers. Senior railway officials extended all help to the passengers and took quick steps to bring back normalcy to the train services. The signalling system of this part was also affected following the accident. Though, the normalcy could not be restored in the railway services till Tuesday.
