Gold worth Rs 20 lakh seized from two passengers

Police seized gold worth over Rs 20 lakh from two passengers who arrived in the city from Bangkok by Thai airways flight. 

The Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Inetrnational airport police station have lodged a complaint and started interrogating the accused.

In a separate incident, the district police have recovered 700 kg narcotic substance from a pick up van at Raiganj. 

Police came to know that a huge narcotic substance was being smuggled from one place to another and conducted a vigil on the national highway 34, late on Saturday night. 

In Rupahar area police found that the pick up van was full of potatoes bags. 

After conducting a thorough search , the police recovered the huge amount of narcotics from inside the potato bags. 

No arrests have however been made in this connection so far. Police have seized the vehicle. 

They are conducting raids to arrest the driver and the helper of the pick up van.
