Gold bars and cash seized, three arrested

Police have recovered around 18 gold bars worth nearly Rs 5 crore and hard cash worth nearly 10 lakh from car and also arrested three persons from the spot. 

Acting at a tip off Siliguri police intercepted the car carrying the gold biscuits at Bhaktinagar on Thursday morning. 

Police also seized fire arms from their possession. The accused were remanded in police custody after being produced before a court. 

According to the preliminary investigation police suspect that the accused looted the valuables from Nepal and wanted to sell them Siliguri.  Police are investigating whether the accused were a part of any international smuggling racket. 

In the interrogation the accused had named other persons involved in the crime. Police are conducting raids to nab the other culprits.
