Godse’s busts: Hindu Mahasabha factions at odds

Two factions of the Hindu Mahasabha on Saturday clashed over the demand of one group that it be allowed to install busts of Nathuram Godse even as the other group said raising such a demand would promote disharmony in society and send out wrong signals.

Swami Chakrapani, who is president of one of the factions, claimed that his group was the original Hindu Mahasabha and condemned Chandra Prakash Kaushik, head of the other faction, for his promotion of Godse.

“He is doing it for cheap publicity. We completely disown any such statement. If the demand of installing Godse’s busts is accepted, then the message will go in society that violence has triumphed over non-violence as he was convicted for killing Mahatma Gandhi, who stood for non-violence,”
Chakrapani said.

“It will spread disharmony in society,” he added.
