Godman involved in criminal cases nabbed

The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested a 43-year-old <g data-gr-id="16">godman</g> for allegedly being is involved in cases of murder, attempt to murder, drug trafficking and cheating. In December 2014, the accused escaped from the custody of the Punjab Police.

Police said the accused, <g data-gr-id="21">Satender</g>, alias Baba, was <g data-gr-id="22">arrseted</g> from Begumpur area. Recently, information was received that an inmate, who had escaped from the custody of Punjab Police a few months ago, would visit his relatives in Begampur area. A trap was laid and Baba was apprehended after a brief scuffle, police said.

Police said Baba, a matriculate, had earlier served as a patwari in the Punjab government. He got married twice and has three daughters and one son from his first wife. While in government service, he allegedly claimed to have gained “spiritual insight and divine revelation” and started preaching. Baba allegedly influenced many people. During 2005 and 2006 he used to deliver religious discourses on religious TV channels ‘Sanskar’ and ‘Sadhna’.
