Goa polls: AAP announces 3rd list, ex-IG prison in fray

AAP in Goa on Tuesday released its third list of four candidates for the upcoming Goa Legislative Assembly polls. The state has 40 Assembly constituencies.

The party has fielded former Inspector General (Prison) Elvis Gomes, who had recently taken voluntary retirement.

After the third list, AAP has declared 15 candidates for the Goa polls.

The list was released by local AAP leaders here.

Gomes is fielded from Cuncolim constituency, which is currently represented by BJP's Rajan Naik.

The constituency had been a Congress bastion till 2012 Goa election.

The party has also announced that Cecille Rodrigues, a dance teacher and who was runner up in the Dance India Dance Super Moms competition on a national TV channel, will be in the fray from Taleigao constituency.

The constituency is currently represented by Congress's Jeniffer Monserratte.

Tribal activist Ravindra Velip, who shot to fame after the anti-mining agitation, will be contesting on an AAP ticket from Sanguem constituency, which is currently represented by BJP's Subhash Faldesai.

Rajesh Volvoikar will be in the fray as an AAP candidate from Porvorim constituency which is currently represented Independent Rohan Khaunte.

Apart from AAP, no other political party has yet declared their candidates.

The party has already started campaigning for the polls and AAP's national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has visited the coastal state thrice.
