Global leaders congratulate Royal birth

Warm congratulatory messages poured in from across the globe as Prince William’s wife Kate delivered a baby boy - third in line to the British throne. The 31-year-old Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a baby boy at the private Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital here after more than 10 hours of labour.
US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle congratulated the new parents ‘on the joyous occasion of the birth of their first child’. ‘We wish them all the happiness and blessings parenthood brings,’ Obama said in a White House statement, adding the American people are pleased to join with the people of the UK as they celebrate the birth of the young prince.
Australian Prime minister Kevin Rudd said, ‘This is a day of great joy.’ ‘I think all Australians at the bottom of their hearts wish the royal bub all the best, and certainly wish the new parents all the best as well. This is a day of great joy. While New Zealand Prime minister John Key said, ‘I think people are genuinely very happy for the couple.’
‘The birth has been well-publicised over here and there’s been a high level of anticipation and excitement, and I think there’s just genuine fondness towards William and Kate.’ Canadian Prime minister Stephen Harper said the birth of the ‘future sovereign of Canada is a highly-anticipated moment for all Canadians.’ ‘This new beginning reminds us of the remarkable and enduring relationship our country has enjoyed with generations of the (British) Royal Family.’
Russian President Vladimir Putin also congratulated the new parents. ‘He (Putin) wished the newborn baby, the Duchess of Cambridge and all members of the Royal Family good health,’ Russian president’s press service said in a statement.
Israeli President Shimon Peres said, ‘The whole Jewish nation joins me in wishing the entire royal family a hearty Mazal Tov (good luck). On behalf of the people of the State of Israel, I wish to express our tremendous joy at the birth of your child - a royal baby, born in the most democratic country on earth. May he live to a hundred and twenty years.’.
French President Francois Hollande, in a letter to the young Royal couple, said, ‘The happy news of the birth of the prince has delighted the French people.’ Japanese Prime minister Shinzo Abe sent a congratulatory message to his British counterpart David Cameron. ‘We wish the son the best of health. We hope that with this event, Japanese people will feel closer to Britain,’ chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga quoted Abe as saying in the message.
