Girl’s murder: Grandmother and aunt in police custody

Five days after the mutilated body of a four-year-old girl was found at a New Town house in <g data-gr-id="14">North</g> 24 Parganas district, her grandmother and aunt have been arrested and remanded to police custody in connection with the murder.

Arati Naskar, the grandmother of the girl, Preeti <g data-gr-id="15">Naskar</g>, and Kabita Naskar, her aunt, were arrested yesterday and given 14 days’ police remand on Sunday, DCDD (Bidhan Nagar Commissionerate) K P <g data-gr-id="16">Barui</g> said.

Police had requested a local court for the remand of the accused for further interrogation. The body of the girl with fingers chopped off were found on October 14 from a room on the terrace of her uncle’s house. The arrested duo confessed to the crime after several hours of grilling and based on their statements police launched a search for the dismembered fingers.
