Girl’s charges of NY rape a revenge plot?

A twist has come in the tale of the minor girl, who claimed to have been raped by two men in the posh Safdarjung Enclave area of south Delhi on the New Year eve. The police is now claiming that the ‘victim’ knew both the accused for quite some time, and was apparently involved in relationships with both of them.
The girl had claimed that the two men, who work with an IT company in Gurgaon, raped her on the New Year eve after sedating her with a laced drinks. In the FIR, the girl mentioned the complete details of the accused, who were identified as Naveen and Rajesh Singh, on the basis of which the duo was arrested on Monday from Sarojini Nagar and was sent to 14-day judicial custody.
A police official said, ‘The girl was depressed as both the accused promised her of a committed relationship and made physical relations with her. On 31 December, the girl finally narrated her story to her mother, who advised her to lodge a complaint against the two.’
The girl had met the accused through a social networking site, on which she had created an account in 2011. She firsy became friends with Singh. After months of online conversations, she started meeting him at his residence in Green Park. Singh, who originally hails from Uttarakhand, lives alone at his apartment. After a few months, he started ignoring the girl.
Soon after her relationship with Singh came to an end, she became close to Naveen. But even he started ignoring her after some time. Feeling betrayed, the girl got depressed and was not able to concentrate on her studies.
TWO CASES OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
Two cases of sexual assault, including the attempted rape on a minor, were reported in the national capital since Tuesday, police said. In the first incident, 25-year-old Arif sneaked into the house of his neighbour in slum cluster of Raghubir Nagar around 5 am and allegedly tried to rape the minor girl, whose parents had gone out for work. The victim’s grandmother happened to walk in and then raised an alarm. Arif Arif managed to flee from the spot. In another case, a girl was molested allegedly by four men inside her house in Kalyanpuri last night. The accused also had a scuffle with her parents. One of the accused had been stalking the girl for the past several months, the family told police.
