Girl molested in Salt Lake, two arrested

Police have arrested two persons from Duttabad area in Bidhannagar for molesting a girl and badly beating up her two elder brothers.

The incident happened on Tuesday night in Salt Lake when the victim was returning home from private tuition. 

The girl had told the police that three miscreants in a drunken state blocked her way and hurled abusive languages at her. 

When she protested against the incident they assaulted her. When her two brothers came to her rescue they too were beaten up badly by the miscreants. 

The brothers suffered injuries all over their bodies. Hearing the girl’s screams local people rushed to the spot and the miscreants fled the scene. 

After being informed the Bidhannagar (South) Police reached the spot and on the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim, started a case.

While investigating the police came to know that the accused were the residents of Duttabad area. 

After conducting a raid police have arrested two persons in this connection so far, while another accused is still at large. 

Police are conducting a search in the nearby locality to nab the culprit.

In view of recent incidents of snatching and eve-teasing in Salt Lake, Bidhannagar Police is strengthening the law and order situation in the area.  They are planning to make additional security arrangements in some particular places to prevent any such incidents.
