Girl killed in Merc: Shubham, friend arrested

In the Najafgarh case where a 17-year-old girl was shot dead in a Mercedes car, the police arrested Yogesh too along with Shubham, the main accused and both were produced before a court. The police got the two’s remand for three days. In a sensational case which created headlines across print and electronic media, the main accused Shubham who fired at the girl was arrested from Saket where he was hiding at a relative’s place. 

He was absconding from the day he murdered the girl and also shaved his beard to dodge police and locals to conceal his identity since his photo was already public through media. Shubham was charged for murder of the girl under Section 302 of the IPC. His friend Yogesh, whose weapon was used for the offence, was also booked under Arms Act, kidnaping and Juvenile Justice Act. Elaborating on the sequence of events, Joint CP South-western range Deepender Pathak said: “Shubham has been arrested from Saket. This seems to be a crime of passion. The investigation till now has revealed that friendship with two boys became an instant cause of murder. However, the investigation is still underway.”

It was also revealed that Shubham befriended the deceased girl on Facebook six months back. Both developed friendship and on December 20, Shubham along with his friend Yogesh, picked up the girl from near her house and took her to Rajauri Garden. The trio partied there and got some photographs clicked. The cops too found a mobile which has some videos and pictures of the two having fun in the car. The photograph also shows a pistol which was allegedly the same weapon that was used later by Shubham for the fatal assault. 

It is learnt that things worsened after the girl called her mother and told she is with Nitin, her previous friend. The mother cross checked it with Nitin and her friend Nitin started giving repeated calls to the girl asking her whereabouts. This led to an altercation between Shubham and the girl. In the meantime as they reached the girl’s house in Najafgarh, the trio were confronted by Nitin who was waiting outside along with the girl’s mother. Shubham shot at the girl inside the car and fled from the spot.
