Girl forced to drink ‘acidic’ liquid by unknown men

The incident allegedly took place when the girl went to school after bunking for almost 15 days as she was fed up by the two stalkers who were harassing her every time she went to school. On Wednesday, when she went to school, the duo allegedly caught her barely 200 metre away from the school premises and forced her to drink some acidic substance.

After forcing her to drink the substance, the duo allegedly fled when a passer-by spotted the act. After the girl started puking, the passer-by took her to the school where her parents were called.

“The school staff asked her mother to take her to the hospital and also informed her that their daughter was not attending the school for almost 15 days. As her mother was unaware, she became angry and took her to a private clinic before taking her home in Sangam Vihar,” a source said.

According to her mother, the doctors at the clinic discharged her after giving some medicines as till then her daughter had not disclosed about the consumption of acidic substance. She remained at her house for almost two hours after which her condition deteriorated and she was rushed to Safdarjung hospital. Reaching the hospital, she told the nurse that she was forced to drink acidic substance by two persons who were stalking her from the past one month.

The hospital authorities informed police and a case has been registered under Section 326(A) IPC (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid, etc) against unknown persons and is investigating the matter. “However, prima facie, it doesn’t look like a case where the girl was forced to drink acid. There were no external injuries on the girl’s body,” said a senior police officer. He added that the CCTV footage from the area also didn’t show that the girl was being stalked or forced to consume something. We are investigating the matter, the officer added.

Police said that a sample of the liquid that was fed to the girl has been sent for forensic examination and the results are awaited. The police have not ruled out the possibility of a “suicide bid” by the girl adding that the girl might be in depression as her parents are going through a divorce.
