Girl dies in Bongaon, swine flu suspected

A 14-month-old girl from Bongaon in North 24-Parganas has died of suspected of swine flu virus at BC Roy Hospital on Friday. She was admitted to the hospital few days ago after she had complained of acute respiratory distress.

When the victim was brought to the BC Roy Hospital the doctors found that she had been suffering from pneumonia. The doctors said that the patient was born with the disease. The victim was a resident of Sukhpukuria area in Bongoan. The deceased’s blood sample was sent to the NICED. Though some claimed that the blood report has come from the NICED which confirmed that H1N1 virus has been detected in her blood sample. The victim was first taken to some local hospital when her condition deteriorated. The victims parents had decided to shift her to the BC Roy Hospital. After being taken to the city the family members came to know about the disease the patient had been suffering from.
The health department officials are yet to confirm if it is case of the swine flu. If the virus is tested positive in the deceased’s blood sample then it is clear the virus reappeared.
