Ggn contractor commits suicide, circulates video note to friends

The Gurgaon Police found a video of Mahesh Kaushik, a city contractor who recorded the audio-visual version of his suicide note before shooting himself in sector 9A on Tuesday.

The incident took place when the 55-year-old contractor shot himself because of the alleged torture and pressure he got from his daughter-in-law and her mother over some property dispute with a licensed revolver in his bathroom at around 5.30 pm.

The police found a 37 seconds long video in the deceased’s mobile phone which was shared by him to his other WhatsApp friends.

According to the information received, Kaushik was going through a crisis over property division between the two sons.

His elder son, Chander Prakash stays with his family in London and his younger son lives with him in Sector 9. Kaushik wanted to give the bigger portion of his property to the elder son, which was not accepted by his daughter-in-law (married to the younger son).

He had also left a suicide note in his car which read- “They have come to my place to quarrel with me. Being a heart patient I am neither inclined nor in a condition to argue with anyone.
“I am perturbed for the past two years. My daughter-in-law Tanisha and her mother Laxmi are responsible for my death. I’ve left a suicide note on the dashboard of my car. Please give it to police,” he said in the video clip.

His son Chander Prakash has sent a complaint to the Gurgaon Police commissioner by email on Wednesday morning.

Based on this complaint an FIR was registered in Sector 10 police station under Section 306 (Abetment to suicide) and 34 (common intension) of the Indian Penal code.

“We are investigating the case from both the angles. Both the daughter-in-law and her mother Laxmi have been booked and called for further investigation,” said Hawa Singh, ACP (Crime), Gurgaon.
