Get the 'world music' high

Redefine music with Fête de la Musique, a music festival open to everybody which kicks off on 21 June organised by Alliance Française de Delhi which is setting up a series of musical events at the Hauz Khas Village for the second time.

This summer, the annual Fête de la Musique Festival will feature a wide range of genre, musicians and composers from different musical backgrounds who are re-defining music today. One of the members of each band has to be the student/ex student of Alliance Francaise.

The festival will put its finger on the pulse of music, where lines between genres are blurred and audiences are equally likely to find classically-trained instrumentalists performing in downtown and non-traditional venues.

Celebrated around the world nowadays as the World Music Day on the 21 of June (summer equinox), Fête de la Musique is the promotion of music, created by the French Ministry of Culture which first took place in 1982 in Paris. Since this first edition, this event has known a growing success, and has become an international highlight of amateur and professional practice and of musical diversity. This is also a very special occasion for many people in many different countries to attend free live performances, in all kinds of places.
