General’s new offensive, serves notice on Suhag

The effort to influence the chain of succession to the helm of the Indian Army continues unabated.

Ahead of his retirement 31 May, the army chief General V K Singh has slapped a show cause notice on a lieutenant general heading 3 Corps in the Northeast.

Lt Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag, the army officer under the scanner, is in line to be considered for the top post in two years from now. Gen. Singh issued the notice, inquiring why Lt Gen Suhag should not be censured for lapses in his handling of the unit during the operation carried out by the formation's intelligence and surveillance unit on the intervening night between 20 and 21 December last year, sources said on Wednesday.
