GDA to develop Ghaziabad Haat on a par with Dilli Haat

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has decided to develop Ghaziabad Haat in Indirapuram as an activity centre where cultural activities would be organised throughout the year.

The plan is to develop the haat on a par with Dilli Haat. ‘The people from every nook and corner of the country with various cultural backgrounds are living in the Indirapuram area. Their cultural identities need to be displayed through various socio-cultural activities,’ GDA vice chairman
Santosh Kumar Yadav said. Rittoll, a local mango variety named after Ghaziabad’s village Rittol was the main attraction of the festival. Yadav was speaking at the inauguration of the three days ‘Mango Festival’ at Ghaziabad Haat in Swaran Jayanti Park on Friday. He personally visited the mango stalls set up by farmers from Ghaziabad and the
neighbouring districts.

Meanwhile, the visitors at the festival appeared excited about the festival being organised in Ghaziabad. ‘I had never seen so many varieties. I had heard about mango festivals in
Delhi but could never go there,’ said Rashmi, a
Class X student.
