GDA announces projects to de-congest city roads

In a move to <g data-gr-id="56">de-congest</g> roads and to ease the ever-increasing traffic in and around the city, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has announced a host of new infrastructure projects. 

The authority has claimed to have chalked out a full-proof plan, under which flyovers, <g data-gr-id="32">foot-over</g> bridges, <g data-gr-id="33">rail-over</g> bridges and U-turns will be constructed in areas considered severely crowded. The authority will also review those projects which were announced earlier but are on hold.

As per the plan, the GDA has proposed four flyovers in Vashundhra, Hapur Chungi, Mohan Nagar and Raj Nagar.

It has also announced two <g data-gr-id="48">rail-over</g> bridges in Gulmohar Park and Mohana Nagar area. U-turns will come up on NH-58, Shalimar Garden, <g data-gr-id="49">Bhopura</g>, <g data-gr-id="50">Kanilworth</g> and Thakurdwara crossings. Foot-over bridges will be constructed near Jaipuria Mall, Hindon Vihar triangle, Modi Nagar Raj Chaupla, Modi Nagar bus terminus, Modi Nagar police station, CISF camp at Indirapuram, Ambedkar road and Hapur Chungi crossing.

“To provide <g data-gr-id="47">hassle-free</g> ride to the people, we have decided to launch several projects in and around the city. As the city witnesses massive traffic jams during peak hours, it has been decided to construct a flyover at <g data-gr-id="52">Vashundhara</g> cut on NH-58. The second <g data-gr-id="46">will will</g> come up at Hapur Chungi triangle. Remaining two were constructed at Mohan Nagar crossing and Meerut road. The authority is working on these projects and once completed, it will ensure seamless movement in and around the city,” said a senior official.

The official informed that apart from <g data-gr-id="45">construction</g> of flyovers, <g data-gr-id="34">foot-over</g> bridges and <g data-gr-id="35">rail-over</g> bridges, widening of key roads, fixation of sign boards, works related to drains and sewers will be done. <g data-gr-id="43">Lighting</g> system will also be improved in the coming days.

“The authority has planned to widen and <g data-gr-id="37">beatify</g> as many as 51 major roads of the city and beautify 12 of them. Fixation of <g data-gr-id="38">sign-boards</g> at nine locations will be done. Traffic signals of 40 locations will be enhanced. Lighting of residential sectors will be improved,” the official said. The authority, however, has yet to give detail the roadmap of these projects as the projects are at initial stages.
