Gautam Buddh Nagar gets over 58k new voters

With the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections starting from February 11, as many as 58,596 new voters were added and 35,929 deleted during the electoral roll revision in Gautam Buddh Nagar district.

The district comprises of three Assembly constituencies — Noida, Dadri and Jewar.

Giving out constituency-wise details at press conference here on Thursday, District Magistrate N P Singh said, a total of 21,733 new voters were added in the electoral roll from Noida in which 11,638 were males and 10,089 females, whereas in Dadri, 24,420 new voters were listed and 12,443 from Jewar. 13,561 names were deleted from the roll in Noida which included 9,535 males and 4,026 females. In Dadri, 11,960 voters deleted out of which 8,069 were males and 3,891 females and in Jewar 10,408 names, he said.

Briefing about the number of voters, Singh said as per the September 15, 2016 revision list, Noida Assembly constituency has 51,0548 and Dadri has 42,1944 voters. In Jewar there are 31,9774 voters. The DM said the latest voters list will be published and more new names are expected to be added in it. Polling is scheduled for February 11 in Gautam Buddh  Nagar. Nomination process will start on January 17 and the last date of filing nomination is January 24. Scrutiny of nomination will be done on January 25.

Counting of the votes for the state Assembly polls will be on March 11. Noida has 109 polling centres and 483 polling booths, while Dadri has 170 polling centres and 416 polling booths. 

In Jewar this figures stands at 201 polling centres and 343 polling booths. Singh also held meeting with district officials and directed them to ensure transparency and implementation of the election code of conduct. He also met political parties’ representatives and directed them to follow the Election Commission’s guidelines. He said this year the Election Commission has introduced IT-based technology.
