Ganguly in favor of Indo-Pak series

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday came out in support of a full-fledged series between India and Pakistan as the fate of the bilateral contest remains shrouded in uncertainty.

“India-Pakistan contests are high octane given the interest it garners in both countries. Personally I am in favor of a series,” Ganguly told media personnel at the sidelines of a jewelry store inauguration here. “However, there several factors which play part,” he added. The former India opener backed the selection of left handed batsman Yuvraj Singh and fast bowler Ashish Nehra into the national T20 squad for the upcoming Australia series, saying performance is more accountable than age. “If they perform consistently they will continue to remain in the squad,” Ganguly said. Ganguly’s comment comes three days after BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur virtually ruled out an Indo-Pak series due to closing window in the current cricketing calendar.
