Gangster Ravi Pujari booked in Zinta-Wadia case

The Mumbai police has now confirmed that the caller was indeed identified as Pujari, and an FIR has been filed against the gangster. The police also deployed armed security outside the Wadia residence as well as their office, on Thursday.

Pujari had apparently warned Nusli Wadia of dire consequences if the alleged harassment of Preity Zinta were to continue. The threats were issued over five telephone calls as well as through one text message. The call was traced to Iran.

‘We have received a complaint from Wadia’s office saying two employees received calls... The caller claimed to be Ravi Pujari and we are in the process of registering a case. Investigations have been transferred to the Anti-Extortion Cell,’ police commissioner Rakesh Maria had said on Wednesday.
DCP Patil said that the caller just warned Wadia asking him to stay away from Zinta’s matter. If required, we would record Zinta’s statement.

In Preity’s complaint on 12 June, she had charged Ness with abusive behaviour in public, during an IPL match at Wankhede Stadium on 30 May.

Meanwhile, a police official said on Fridat that one more witness was examined today in the matter.
‘We have examined one more witness who was present at Garware pavilion (at the time of the alleged incident). A total of seven witnesses have been examined in the case so far,’ he said.
Zinta is likely to record her supplementary statement in connection with the case on Sunday, police said .
