Ganga Mission: 764 polluting industries identified

In a step forward to clean River Ganga, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has identified 764 grossly polluting industries (GPIs) discharging industrial effluents and 56 class – I cities & 31 class - II towns discharging waste water into the river.  

The CPCB comes under the Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Ministry, which is headed by Uma Bharti. In a written reply to Rajya Sabha, Bharti on Monday said, “The government has launched an integrated Ganga conservation mission – ‘Namami Gange’ in June, 2014. Our correspondent
