Gang of burglars busted, five arrested

On Wednesday, Delhi Police busted a gang of robbers who were involved in several armed burglaries and house robberies. Five accused including the gang leader and receiver were arrested.

'Three pistols with nine live cartridges, looted articles, six luxury cars, jewellery and several lakhs of rupees were recovered from the accused. With the help of these arrest, 22 cases of armed burglaries and house robberies of Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, UP, Gurgaon and Faridabad (Haryana) have been solved,' said Chhaya Sharma, DCP (South- District).

The accused were identified as Surender Chouhan (29), Surender Singh (33), Devender Khari (42), Suresh Kumar (30) and Om Parkash (37). Surender Chouhan was the gang leader while, Om Parkash was the receiver of the stolen property.

'There was a sudden increase in the incidents of daylight burglaries and house robberies in south Delhi and other adjoining areas. This created fear in the minds of people. We were under tremendous pressure to prevent such incidents. With the help of special staff, we have finally apprehended all of them. The team have scanned their criminal records. The victims were contacted to get information regarding the description of culprits. The secret sources were activated and criminal intelligence was developed,' said Sharma.
