Gandhi's monkeys in Doha

Indian artist Subodh Gupta's creation Gandhi's Three Monkeys which represents 'see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil' have been installed at a cultural village in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

Gupta has sculpted Gandhi's three monkeys using worn brass domestic utensils, the forms of a soldier's helmet, a terrorist's hood and a gas mask. They reinforce Gupta's dialectics of war and peace, public and private, global and local, themes that run throughout his work.

Qatar Museums Authority Chief Executive Officer Mansoor al Khater praised the artists, saying 'Gupta is a world renowned artist and this strong statement of peace couldn't be installed in a better location. We are gratefully for their shared enthusiasm for the arts.'
