Friendship across times

With a view to focus on landscapes in Italian cinema, the film Dieci Inverni [Ten Winters] will be screened at Istituto Italiano di Cultura. The 99 minute film was released in 2009.

Directed by Valerio Mieli, the film is a romantic drama casting Isabella Ragonese, Michele Riondino, Glen Blackhall and Sergei Zhigunov. The film marks a story of two best friends who secretly have deeper feelings for each other.

Camilla, a shy 18-year old has just arrived from her small town to study Russian literature at the University. Silvestro decides to follow Camilla in the narrow, foggy streets of an island.

After striking up a conversation, they discover that they are both about to enroll in the same college as freshers.

What follows is their encounters at various points. Sometimes they are enemies, at other times they are friends, sometimes they are close and at other times distant. Each winter opens a window into the lives of these two people who never completely lose touch.
