Friend rushes to pal’s aid, gets bludgeoned to death

A friend in need is a friend in deed. However, this cost the life of a 21-year-old youth in West Delhi. On Monday evening, a 21-year-old youth was allegedly brutally thrashed to death by a group of men when he went over to Uttam Nagar area to stand in solidarity with his friend in West Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area on Monday evening. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sushant. He lived with his mother in Ranhola village.

The incident took place at around 7.30 pm in the Shiv Vihar area of Uttam Nagar when one Sunil Chaudhary called Sushant to his place. Senior police officers said that Chaudhary got into a verbal argument with a group of boys in his locality. Sensing that it will turn into a scuffle, he called his friends. On being called, Sushant along with his cousin brother, Rahul rushed to Chaudhary’s help.

Here, the group of youth brutally started beating Sushant with iron rods, sticks and cricket bats till he fell unconscious. In the scuffle, Rahul sustained minor injuries, added a senior cop.

After beating Sushant black and blue, the group fled from the scene. Chaudhary informed the police after which a team of local police rushed Sushant to Deen Dayal Upadhayay hospital where he was  declared dead on admission. Investigators said that police have detained six persons in connection with the matter. However, no arrests have been made so far.

Police said that they have registered a case under appropriate sections of the IPC at the Uttam Nagar police station. Further investigation in the matter is still on. Sushant, a class XII dropout is survived by his mother and a younger brother. His father died in a road accident five years ago.
