‘Friend’ kidnaps, molests minor girl inside Ola cab

A minor girl was kidnapped in front of her house at Rajarhat’s Raigachi by her friend. He took her to an Ola cab and allegedly molested her inside the car, while the cab driver drove the vehicle to Salt Lake and then Eastern Metropolitan Bypass on Saturday night. The girl was thrown out of the car at Chinar Park in the early hours of Sunday. A patrolling car of Rajarhat police station rescued the girl from there.

“The girl called up her mother and asked her to rescue her from there. Her father was sitting in front of us in police station. We rescued the girl immediately,” said an investigating officer.

The parents of the victim girl informed the police that their daughter went out of the house to go to washroom. The kidnapper was probably waiting for the moment. “Our daughter went out of the house to go to the washroom. After that she went missing. Her father then went to police station to lodge a complaint,” said mother of the victim girl.

“She called us at around 5 am. She was crying. She said, please rescue me from here,” her mother added.

Meanwhile, police is on the lookout for a youth who is the friend of the victim girl. The investigators are also looking for the accused cab driver. “Rocky, the accused person is a resident of Rajarhat’s Narayanpur. He met the girl at a marriage ceremony. Later, they became friends in Facebook. And started chatting on WhatsApp,” said the investigating officer.

“We have started an investigation. The cases of abduction and conspiracy have been lodged. We are also tracing the mobile phone tower location to find out the culprits,” the officer added.

The victim girl is now in a traumatic situation. She cannot even talk properly. “We’ll try to know the exact route in which she was taken,” the officer added.

It should be recalled that two drivers of Ola cabs were arrested a couple of months ago for their alleged involvement in raping and killing a 12-year-old pavement dweller in the city. The duo — Shankar Shaw and Guddu Singh — allegedly kidnapped the girl at night by forcing her into an Ola taxi and drove her to the Park Circus flyover where they took turns to rape the minor inside the vehicle. This incident at Rajarhat was just a grim reminder of Park Circus Flyover incident.
