Frieda, Anupam to star in sex-trafficking movie

Actor Freida Pinto and veteran actor Anupam Kher will star in the directorial debut of Slumdog Millionaire producer Tabrez Noorani titled Love Sonia, which is a real-life inspired drama about sex-trafficking.

The film tells the heartfelt and brave story of Sonia, a young Indian village girl whose life irrevocably changes when she is entrapped into the vicious global sex trade network.

“Happy and proud to be part of this amazing international film Love Sonia directed by Tabrez Noorani,” Kher posted on Twitter.

According to Deadline newcomer Mrunal Thakur will play the title character in Love Sonia, which will also feature American actor Paul Dano, Manoj Bajpai, Richa Chaddha, Adil Hussain, Rajkummar Rao and Sai Tamhankar. The film is written by Ted Caplan and Alkesh Vaja. Noorani said he spent years developing the script.
