Free wi-fi at Dilli Haat from September 27

Ahead of the World Tourism Day, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on Wednesday announced to provide free wi-fi by announcing a pilot project at Dilli Haat at INA.

“On the World Tourism Day we will launch free wi-fi at Dilli Haat, INA, for 20 minutes a day,” Delhi tourism minister Kapil Mishra said, adding: “It’s a pilot project, after response of the citizen and analysing the data, the government would expand the plan for the city accordingly.”

Launching free wi-fi in the national Capital is the dream project of the AAP. To woo voters during the Delhi election, the party promised that its government will provide free wi-fi across the city.

Many times, AAP leaders faced the ire and heated remarks from the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress leaders over the issue of providing free wi-fi.

Meanwhile, Mishra also announced that on the Tourism Day, there would be no entry fee at any tourist places which comes under the Delhi government, including Dilli Haat and the Garden of Five Senses.

In an attempt to make the national Capital a tourist hub, Mishra announced that on September 27, the state government will welcome every arriving passenger at the Indira Gandhi International airport with garlands.

“Delhi can also be the tourist hub and we can earn a lot in the tourism sector. But, we need to make some efforts in this regard.

“Although the government is trying to redevelop the walled city, efforts are also being made to develop the city as a safe place for tourists. We are trying to develop nightlife in the city and many more plans are in the cards,” Mishra added.

Tourism Day will be celebrated across the world on September 27.
