France steal Iceland thunder

France struggled in their first warm-up for Euro 2012 as they came back from two goals down to beat Iceland 3-2 at Valenciennes, France.

Birkir Bjarnason and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson put the visitors 2-0 ahead in 28th and 33rd minute, as France were completely outclassed by their lowly ranked opponents in the first half.

France gathered steam in the second half as Mathieu Debuchy eased the burden of coach Laurent Blanc with a 52th-minute goal to make it 1-2.

Franck Ribery levelled the score with a lob, the first goal for his country since Arpil, 2009., and the game seemed to end with a draw.

Valencia back Adil Rami powered in the winner with only three minutes to go to give France a hard fought victory.

France extended their unbeaten run to 19 matches and will face Serbia on Thursday and Estonia on 5th June.

The European Championships will kick off June 8 in Ukraine and Poland with France to face England on 11th June  in a Group D matchup.
