Foxconn unit suspension: Workers to intensify stir

To intensify their agitation against suspension of production at the Foxconn India facility at Sriperumbudur near here, the employees have decided to stage a protest in front of the Kancheepuram District Collectorate next week, Union sources said.

Foxconn had placed the 1,600 employees on paid-holiday- leave status from December 22 as its facility located at Nokia Special Economic Zone, Sriperumbudur has completed all its production orders.

Five round of tripartite talks were held between the Assistant Labour Commissioner, management of Foxconn and employee Union, but ended in stalemate.

The sixth round of tripartite talks were held on Friday but there was no sign of reaching an amicable settlement, Foxconn India Employees Union representatives said.
