Four persons killed in seperate road accidents

Four persons were killed in separate road accidents in the state while one died after being run over by a train at Siliguri on Wednesday.

Three persons died and many others were injured after a bus in which they were travelling in lost its control and rammed into a truck from behind. The incident happened at Fagupur area of Burdwan on NH2 on Wednesday morning. The bus was carrying the pilgrims to Ganga Sagar when the accident took place.

The victims have been identified as Rajmati Gulabaur (65), Sanjay Gurbant (45) and the other is believed to be the driver of the vehicle. Police said that the bus lost its control and hit a truck loaded with marble from the behind. Three persons died at the spot while 15 others were taken to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. Police have seized both the vehicles.

In another incident of a 41-year-old woman died after being crushed under the wheels of a bus near bus stop number 15 at Ultadanga on Wednesday morning. 

Police said that the victim Deepika Poddar (41) was trying to get down from the bus when she went under the wheels of the moving bus. She was immediately rushed to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital where she was declared brought dead. 

Akshay Sharma a first year student from Siliguri Commerce College who was going to his college to appear in an examination on a motorcycle died after a state bus had hit him.  A farmer Atul Sen (48) from Changrabandha area of Siliguri died after being knocked down by a DMU train.
