Four bodies found in city in last 24 hours

Bodies of four persons were found in east Delhi in the last 24 hours, said police on Tuesday. While the two were found hanging from trees, indicating suicide, the other two seem to have died natural deaths, they added.

The first incident was reported around 8 am from near the East Delhi Mall in Anand Vihar area, where a man aged around 30 was found hanging from a tree in a nearby small jungle.

‘The victim, who is yet to be identified, was spotted hanging from a tree by a passerby, who made a call to the police control room,’ said a police officer.

Police recovered a piece of paper from the pocket of the victim, which indicates that he might have hailed from Uttar Pradesh.

The body has been preserved at the mortuary of Lal Bahadur Shastri [LBS] hospital. In the second incident, the body of an unidentified man, aged about 25 years, was found hanging from a tree in Geeta Colony area. The incident came to light around 9.30 am on Monday and police have preserved the body at LBS hospital mortuary for identification. It seems to be a case of suicide.

The third incident was reported from Mandawali area, where the decomposed body of an elderly man was found inside his rented accommodation on Tuesday evening.

The victim, identified as Vijay Mandal, hailed from Mangia village in Bihar and worked at Punjab Sadan. Police claim it is a case of natural death, as the house was locked from inside and no injury marks were found on Mandal’s body.

In the fourth incident, the body of a 55-year-old bus driver was found inside a Uttar Pradesh roadways bus parked in Anand Vihar bus terminal.

The incident came to light on Tuesday morning and police said the victim, identified as Shyam Singh, died due to a cardiac arrest.
