Former NDMC chair gets 4-year jail for graft

Former chairperson of New Delhi Municipal Council PM Singh and three other officers were on Wednesday sentenced to four years rigorous imprisonment in a 2003 corruption case by a local court.
Dwarka Special Court convicted Singh, former IAS of 1972 batch from AGMU cadre and the then Chairperson NDMC, in a case of fraudulently regularising the unauthorised construction and granting of lodging house licence to M/s Centre Point, Kasturba Gandhi Marg.
The other ex officers of the civic agency G S Thind, Medical Officer (Health), Dr R Pal, Chief Medical Officer, and Raj Kumar Gupta, Sanitary Inspector were also sentenced to four
years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 each was imposed on them, CBI
spokesperson said.
